She bought a pair of white dogs named Mercury and Phebe with her. Later on, Queen Victoria bred over 15 Pomeranian as she was very fond of Poms. Inspired by her passion for this breed, dog fanciers started producing smaller Pomeranians. They became a member of the American Kennel Club in 1909. Currently, Pomeranian ranks 14th best breed out of 155 breeds that are registered by the AKC.
